Black Mirror Interactive Dream - Bandersnact

How Black Mirror executed all our dreams in a perfect manner?

The new product delivered by the famous Black Mirror is up and it had impressed everybody. The new chapter of the episode series is a movie! but not any casual movie. No! it's an INTERACTIVE movie. You can check it on Netflix if you haven't done it by now. the huge wave that the product has raised has been enormous and I want to take part in it. I'll try to surf it in my own way.

As a writer, I want to worship the brilliance of the show. It's not that they made something so new that nobody has been thinking about it is that they did it in a way that it should have been done. In my personal way, I always thought about it, but I always dreamt it to be displayed at the cinema. And I know I'm not the only one who had the same idea of creating a story where you will be the guide of it.  I know every writer or creative had the same idea of making an interactive movie. And I think nobody has done it so big because of the fear of not being good until Black Mirror existed and was the perfect device to tell it.

Black Mirror its the product that can mix all these elements in a perfect way. They used the interactive media not only to tell a new idea but used it in a way where the interactive part was part of the inner story. What I mean is, it's different to tell a story in an interactive way and to tell a story about interactivity in an interactive way. Through the story, the show gives the audience the reason for choosing the interactivity as the way of telling the plot.

A guy who wants to create a game where you can choose the path of the player it's the perfect plot to break the 4th wall of the movie's story per se. The film talks about several topics that are all included in the same way that it is been told. They talk about:  the freedom of choice and if you really have it, parallel lives that exist in the same universe and how they are affected but the decisions you make, and how you want to explore every idea that exists after making a decision.

You can see how I am still fascinated by it. When the characters of the story start to talk to you completes the whole purpose of the movie. And I'm not speaking about the scene where you explain to the protagonist that you are controlling him through Netflix, I'm talking about when Colin (Will Pouter) talks about us (the audience) when he starts explaining why Stefan needs to live every decision of the story. It's perfect. While you are making Stefan do everything he does in the story, the movie is speaking to you about why you are doing it and how the purpose of he is the same as yours when making decisions. And all mixed with the perfect excuse of re-doing the story so you can have a second chance of choosing differently.

This is why I think its perfect. Because it doesn't innovate making something interactive. Interactive stories have been around us since decades ago. It is splendid because of the reason for its interactivity.  Furthermore, implanting the Black Mirror's soul in us that it's the criticism of technology.

What do you think about it? If you haven't seen it, believe me, go now and watch it you won't lose time on it. And just absorb it in your own way but I know you will be as intrigued as me when I had to watch every single option and how did they shoot it impeccable.
